Vikings vs. Polar Bears. The teams across the track. An ongoing rivalry between two outstanding teams. On Friday, October 24th, the Jackson Polar Bears faced their rivals on the field, and putting all of their training over the last many months to the test, pushing both their physical and mental strength to its limits.
For the entire week leading up to this game, the football players could feel the anticipation grow and excitement buzz through the air, only being amplified by the student body’s efforts to support these amazing athletes. A week before the rival game took place, student council, polar bear backers, the cheerleaders, and many more helped in covering the walls of our school in purple, gold, and white. Throughout the course of three hours, more than one hundred students were able to cover the school in signs, streamers, and balloons all to support the polar bears that upcoming Friday. Since summer, the student body had been working for hours to paint signs, purchase decorations, and organize such a large group of students to participate in decorating and supporting the school. With that being said, I think it would be correct to say that the school has never been alive with such spirit and anticipation and it was amazing to see how just one football game could bring together the school community. The students continued to show their support and excitement throughout the week by participation in the Beat Xoover themes for the week, all the way from Jersey Day on Monday to White Out at the game on Friday. At the game, the student section showed up in full force, wearing white Beat Xoover shirts sold in weeks before, white tutus and wigs, and white body paint from head to toe. Now that the last game has been played, we can only look forward to the spirit, encouragement, and effort put towards the playoff games coming soon. Good luck to our football players, and go bears!
